I am the youngest of three girls. On the first day of school each year, the teacher would get to my name and ask, “Are you the baby Kitchen?” or “Are you the last Kitchen girl?” or “Hey, you’re the little Kitchen, aren’t you?” Every year, my answer would be the same, “Yes, I’m Little Kitchen.”
For the rest of my time in the public school system, I was known as Little Kitchen, Baby Kitchen, or just Kitchen.
Now, as a Professor of English at a California Community College, my students call me Professor Kitchen, Prof Kitchen, Kitchen, and for one strange semester, Chef.
At the beginning of this year, when I realized my teaching load at a local community college might be cut, I decided to dip back into the creative world and started making candles and bracelets that both can be used for aromatherapy.
My candles are made from soy wax, which has many benefits over regular, paraffin wax candles:
- No Toxins: Soy wax does not contain any of the harmful toxins used in the production of paraffin wax. Thus, soy candles burn clean and are less likely to trigger allergies.
- Sustainability: Soy wax candles are made from sustainable, biodegradable ingredients which benefit the environment.
- Longer Burn: Soy wax candles burn longer than traditional candles due to their chemical composition.
- Fragrance: Soy candles work better to hold the scent from essential oils since they burn longer.
In short, soy wax is:
Derived from Vegetables
100% NON TOXIC
Burns 20%-50% Longer
In addition to my organic, soy candles, I also began to make lava bead bracelets, called Vesuvius bracelets, which you can read more about here.
Lava rock beads can absorb essential oils and hold their scent for hours, even days depending on the essential oil.
Want to try a Vesuvius bracelet for yourself? You can buy them here from my Etsy shop.
I hope you enjoy my candles and Vesuvius bracelets for all of your aromatherapy needs!
